Chelsea is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 30 km south-east from Melbourne’s central business district. Its local government area is the City of Kingston. At the 2016 census, Chelsea had a population of 7,773.
Chelsea is located on Port Phillip and is the most important bayside suburban centre between Mordialloc and Frankston. Chelsea is very popular with beachgoers during summer. Chelsea is also home to many church, community and sporting organisations. The town has an Australian Rules football team competing in the Mornington Peninsula Nepean Football League. AFL legend Leigh Matthews played his junior football at the Chelsea Football Club.
