Simply put, industrial hemp is virtually all the hemp grown in the world today. Non-industrial hemp would be marijuana. Because of all the cross breeding, there is little delineation between what is a hemp plant and what is a marijuana plant. Industrial hemp is the cannabis plant that is exceptionally low in THC. What we call “Pharmaceutical Grade Hemp” is Industrial Hemp that has been specifically bred to have high levels of cannabinoids and is meticulously grown to ensure exacting and high standards.
Category: General FAQ's
How much does is cost? Why does it seem quite expensive?
The answer to these questions lies in the fact that there are many steps and much plant material required to produce the end product. First, a fairly substantial amount of hemp has to be grown, which takes months, to produce enough seeds and stalk to produce a very small amount of hemp extract. Then, the extract has to be extensively tested to ensure its compound make up and its purity. The extract is then formulated into CBD oil.
The best way to compare prices is to break each product down to a “cost per milligram of CBD”. By doing this, you can then start to compare the prices of the products.
Also, as a general rule of thumb, the most common amount used is 15mg per day for general health maintenance and on this basis, a 5000mg bottle would last almost a year and cost less than $1.40 per day which is very affordable for most people.
Is it safe for children and/or pets?
Again, we cannot administer medical advice. But, we can report that many toddlers are taking CBD oil daily for many of the same medical conditions that teens and adults are using it for. As well, we are aware of numerous pets who take CBD oil daily without any ill effects.
Is CBD oil stimulating or sedating?
It can be both! It is biphasic which means in smaller doses it tends to be somewhat stimulating (although not like caffeine) but has a sedating effect in higher doses eg, if used to help sleep conditions.
Will I get “high” when using? Is it addictive?
THC is the compound in cannabis that makes one “high”. The amount of THC in Canntica CBD oil is zero so it is impossible to get “high” from it. Also, CBD Oil is totally non-addictive. In fact, it has been shown to help people kick drug, cigarette and alcohol addictions.
Is it legal where I live?
CBD oil legal in all 50 US states and over 50 countries worldwide. It does not require any prescription nor medical card in the United States. In Australia, CBD oil is currently only available locally by prescription and is therefore unavailable to most Australians in need of this life-changing product. However, feedback from our Australian clients indicates that our small bottles of CBD oil for personal use are being delivered and we guarantee receipt of all orders. If you are in another country, please check your local laws.
Are there any side effects?
CBD oil is considered generally safe, so there shouldn’t be any significant side effects, but we can’t rule them out as it really depends on how your body tolerates and adapts to it. We recommend to consult your physician before using CBD oil.
Could CBD oil interact with my medications?
Possibly. CBD inhibits the cytochrome P450 enzyme, which is involved in metabolizing many drugs. Compounds in grapefruit inhibit the same enzyme group, which is why physicians advise patients not to eat grapefruit shortly before or after taking a medication. By inhibiting cytochrome P450, CBD can either reduce or increase the effects of other drugs. In some situations, it may be advisable for a physician to monitor a patient’s blood levels of other medications while taking CBD.
